Herewear
Algae processing
The fight against the proliferation of algae and micro-algae encourages research to transform them into supplements and substitute ingredients mainly in food products, particularly animal products, and cosmetics.
Herewear is working to verify that cellulose extraction is possible for textiles, and would provide a third reason to compensate for their over-development.
###Inclusive
Shemakes
For gender policies
Shemakes participated in a workshop to prepare a manifesto on gender equality in STEAM (Science, Techniques, Engineering, Arts, Maths) training institutions. Based on 250 responses to the preliminary survey, the workshop brought together 25 participants and selected important points to highlight for women's equality: inclusion in scientific educational curricula, interdisciplinary training, use of art as a lever of attractiveness, as well as representation in governance or decision-making bodies, structural modifications for post-curriculum business development and against stereotypes.

Shemakes x TCBL
In search of wool
Wool is explored in the shemakes project to realize its techno-scientific revaluation through bio-design, the manufacturing of open-source machines and the mapping of wool ecosystems. This research is in addition to that carried out by TCBL on other value chains (cotton, linen, hemp).
In France, around 14,000 tonnes of wool are produced per year. If until 2019, it was half exported to China, it is today available for revaluation through mulching, felting and also through the reconstruction of a value chain integrating respected animals, high quality wool , water-saving washing, modernized yarn or fabric production machines and a return of wool clothing, contemporary and protective against the vagaries of the climate.

Wintex
Final conference
This conference shows that the Wintex project, by creating laboratories co-managed by Tunisian universities and companies, allows textiles made in Tunisia to seize new production opportunities, thanks to the latest generation digital machines, at the service of production that is both automated and sustainable. It took place in person at the Sfax Digital Research Center.
###Innovation
R-coat upcycles used umbrellas and transforms recoverable textiles into clothing and accessories against the rain. Created in 2021 in Portugal, the brand has already upcycled 2000 umbrellas collected in 30 points of sale into 400 products, with the next step of upcycling the metal rods.
###Innovation
Halfway between shoes and roller skates, the Moonwalkers facilitate the mobility of pedestrians who wish, over short distances, to replace scooters, gyrowheels and foldable bicycles or public transport.
###Innovation
The North Face experiments with upcycling of its down jackets: collect damaged down jackets online, cut and assemble recoverable parts, to date 50 down jackets sold online every two months. This program is part of the brand's sustainable transformation, in the same way as the Renewed program, which collects, cleans and resells used but wearable down jackets at low prices without transformation.
###Innovation
Converse tests velor shoes
From 800 tons of thick velvet collected by Beyond Retro, Converse selects and reuses 500 tons of this velvet, cut into kits, ready to be transformed in its factory in Vietnam into pairs of red or black Chuck Taylors.

Post-confinement design: refocusing on basic outfits
According to Stitch Fix's analysis in the USA, out of 4 million items of clothing purchased and delivered to homes after the end of confinement, buyers favored basic outfits with a good durability/cost ratio such as straight jeans + ankle boots. for everyday wear or jackets and suits for more formal circumstances. Future of work?
The 2020 report from the World Economic Forum noted that 30% of current jobs would be replaced by algorithms within a generation, and raised the question of the need to train employees and tomorrow's generations in the development of new skills throughout the their life. Indirectly, this report also raises the question of disconnecting the question of work and the meaning it gives to any human community, from that of employment and its reinvention in the service of the economy. In a word, this report restores the importance of creativity as a family of key skills. Read more
The enzyme that depolymerizes PET in a few hours
Since the discovery in 2016 in Japan of the enzyme Ideonella sakaiensis, this research theme is the subject of numerous projects. One of the latest is that of the discovery of Fast-PETase which acts in a few hours in the laboratory. For the record, 6 million barrels of oil are used every day to make plastic. Read more
