Save the date.
On June 13, 2024, HEREWEAR will be present in Berlin to invite you to discover the main results of the project, a fun and interactive exhibition of the main stages of this new local, circular value chain, sourced from wheat and cereal cellulose, and in preview, the resources put online to better understand and use the project's achievements.

VETRINE
The study phase.
The VETRINE study takes stock of sustainability practices and issues in different Consortium countries. It serves as a basis for developing the MOOC which will be offered to training institutions, universities and companies seeking to develop a more sustainable textile & clothing sector. The study contains a synthesis of insights from focus groups (with more than 500 participants), a raw materials report created by KAUNO Technologijos Universitetas (Lithuania), an analysis of Vocational Education and Training (VET) educational protocols carried out by partners AEG (Spain), DIMITAR TALEV (Bulgaria), CITEVE (Portugal) and EUROTRAINING (Greece), and an analysis of national T&C markets and prospects for the application of sustainability concepts which is the result of research carried out by ATP (Portugal), Cedecs-TCBL (France), CHIMAR (Greece) , CENTEXBEL (Belgium), PIRINTEX (Bulgaria), TEXFOR (Spain).

For the 2nd year, four companies from the HEREWEAR x TCBL community will be the pillars of the ReSources podium at the Avantex Paris trade show, from July 1 to 3, 2024, in order to show that sustainable value chains can be reconstructed from local manufacturing in the sector textile.
The Closet, by Eileen Fisher in partnership with Veesual
Since its founding in 1984, Eileen Fisher has offered basic clothing that can be combined with each other, to create personalized silhouettes. Today, The Closet, in partnership with Veesual, offers to use 12 basics on 8 silhouette shapes that can be previewed before purchase. In addition, the brand offers on its site the basics envisaged in order to better calibrate their production by the brand. READ
Supercapacitors in the form of textile threads can now be woven into clothing to turn them into power sources for mobile devices. Researchers at North Carolina State University have prototyped wires 15 to 24 inches (about 40 to 60 centimeters) in length for this use. READ
Uppeal
Since 2010, Mabel (Italy) has been active in the production of eco-sustainable materials from plant processing waste for the leather, footwear and paper industries. Uppeal is its new brand, which has just signed a partnership with Stella Mc Cartney on a new material made from grape residue. READ
ONVB, DNVBs converted to omnichannel
Since 2015, Digital Native Vertical Brands (DNVB) have demonstrated that exclusively online commerce makes it possible to reduce distribution margins, achieve significant volumes, and reduce investments and operating costs of physical commerce. But return logistics are expensive for DNVBs, and at the same time, the segment of exclusively online buyers is plateauing. The new growth drivers therefore consist of selling offline, in partnership with existing brands. READ
Rebound effect of dilution of textile finishing products
These products make life easier, whether it's preventing stains, grease, or making clothing water-repellent. Unfortunately, these often toxic products pollute groundwater and flow into the seas and oceans, which with the tides, return to suspension in the air and create second degree coastal pollution. One more reason to look for bio-based textile finishing products. READ
Cross-border e-commerce in Europe
In 2023, the top 500 European commerce players sold 237 billion euros cross-border on the B2C market (excluding travel), including 107 billion through their online stores. 19% are achieved by a top 10 (among these 500), made up of Ikea, Zalando, H&M, Lego, Zara, Jysk (furniture), Lidl, Décathlon, Adidas and Notino (beauty). When will there be a barometer representative of SMEs in the textile-clothing sector? READ
Shittropocene, Patagonia's 45-minute film about the destruction of the planet
Even if we can criticize Patagonia's intention to make a film to fight against the overproduction of very low quality clothing to better sell the brand's products, we can only congratulate Patagonia for using its notoriety to lead a real movement transition from fashion to sustainability. READ
Fashion: Laws, Logics, Fictions of Appearance
Cerisy conference from June 3 to 8, 2024. Consider fashion from the angle of its appearances, as well as the desire to study the differentiated regimes of our appearances. In order to think about fashion and its modalities, historians, designers, philosophers, curators, iconographers, artisans and performers will dialogue. READ
