TCBL x Avantex
From July 3 to 5, 2023, at the Avantex exhibition dedicated to the future of the textile industry, four companies from the TCBL network will be present in a space adjoining the Agora to illustrate research on sustainable innovation in this sector: Natural Indigo , Maeko Tessuti, Refact and Vretena.
###Alternatives
Understanding the biosourced sector
The bio-sourced sector is one of the alternatives that makes it possible to rethink textile production in a local and circular way. The main resources of this sector are unused agricultural waste that can be recycled through textiles (pulp, filament, weaving and knitting), which guarantees higher added value. To learn more about how to approach this industry, join the Herewear community.
###Communities
ShemakesClub
THE Club shemakes recently held its first post-project meeting online. The community amplified during the 2 years of the H2020 project has officially joined the TCBL Association network to ensure the development and sustainability of its actions, in particular the training of women in textile innovation using contemporary tools at the service of this transformation, from 3D manufacturing to biomaterial manufacturing. We will continue to discuss how gender equality is a real lever for the sustainable transformation of the sector through future meetings under the aegis of the TCBL association.
###Inclusion
Appoint women to leadership positions?
This new American study in 4 sectors where employment is very female, shows that 30 reasons are given for not choosing a woman, all of which relate to physical stereotypes (eg age, look), socio-economic stereotypes (eg previous professions, socio-cultural environment).
###Innovation
Colors or finishing by DNA copying of natural proteins
The research consists of identifying fauna or flora with certain properties (such as the wasp which has a water-resistant protein), decoding these proteins and reproducing them to transform them into bio-proteins for dyes or finishing. textile. Read more
###Innovation
Preventing mosquito bites through textile innovations
To avoid cases of malaria (247 million worldwide in 2022, according to the WHO), it is possible to imagine knitting preventing direct access of the insect to the skin (read more) or a graphene-based weave (read more) .
###Innovation
Live evolving price
For 20 years, Telfar Clemens wants to make quality and inclusive fashion. Its new system consists of selling its collections at wholesale prices, with the maximum price being that of the retail price. Thus the T-Shirt can be sold between $68 and $128 (wholesale price and retail price), the final price being set in this range depending on demand.
###Innovation

Avoid, Substitute, Improve: IPCC mantra
Today, in France, each individual consumes on average 17 tonnes of carbon equivalent between greenhouse gases, biomass, materials and metals (produced or imported) versus a target of 3 to 6 tonnes to achieve our reduction objectives. It is therefore a priority to refocus the economy on basic needs (avoid the superfluous) and secondarily to find alternatives green to others (substitute, improve). Read more

Runway) without intention of commercializing it. The result is a sofa in which all elements are flexible (seat, backrest, armrests), which weighs less than 10 kg (transportable), it is foldable (without assembly or disassembly) and made with recycled aluminum, fabric made of cellulose and moss made of mycelium.
