CreativeWear PLUS

A new project for CEDECS-TCBL: CreativeWear PLUS

Our mission will be to help the Greek partner, CRE.THI.DEV., to transfer the experience of the CreativeWear project, completed in 2019, to France.

The new CreativeWear PLUS project combines 3 original CreativeWear partners from Italy and Greece with 3 new partners in Portugal, France and Bosnia, to expand the network of CreativeWear Hubs in these 3 countries. In France, it is the Cooperative of Activities and Entrepreneurs PRISME, which is the partner of the project which is working on the creation and management of a CreativeWear hub in Montélimar.

Two Franco-Greek meetings have already taken place remotely in November and December. A series of meetings is scheduled for January in Athens to collect, three years after its end, the experiences of around a hundred participants in the initial project, CreativeWear. In the following months CEDECS-TCBL will organize the participation of speakers from Greece and the TCBL network in the activities of the Prisme Hub in Montélimar.

The social and solidarity economy demonstrates its resilience

Faced with the health crisis and economic instability, the figures are unanimous: the structures of the social and solidarity economy are more resistant to turbulence. The reasons for this resilience are to be found in economic models, which combine profitability, social utility and reduction of the environmental footprint.

The strongest weave in the world

The spider weaves extremely strong webs thanks to its geometric properties and the deformation capacity of its threads. In a new research program NewSpiderSilk from Aalto University in Finland, bacteria are invited to imitate this mechanism, which could usher in new ways of creating fibers through biomimicry. The promises of the program are find here.

Black Friday 2021 is a mixed vintage

In France, according to a study by theObsoco, the very principles of this day are called into question: artificially created over-consumption which leads to unnecessary purchases, prices comparable to periods outside of promotions and movements in favor of responsible and sustainable fashion which are gaining momentum, image of the collective Make Friday Green Again. We are therefore witnessing a scissors effect with fewer customers attracted by this day and more customers ready to boycott it (29% in 2021, growing vs. 2020). This mixed result is also observed in the United States, the country of origin of this promotional day, where the Covid pandemic has had two effects: on the side of potential customers, loss of purchasing power and awareness of a need to save to get through hard times, which has led to a reduction in their impulse purchases in favor of more rational purchases (based on the usage/price ratio); on the supplier side, almost permanent clearance since the start of the pandemic and lack of exceptional Black Friday products. The global change in attitude vs. promotion is thus taking hold.

In Tasmania, land of merino

Merino wool produces a fine fiber that naturally protects against heat, cold or humidity. In Tasmania, farmers raise their sheep with respect for the animal, leaving them free and unconstrained in a still virgin natural space and are proud to produce very high quality merino wool. Producing a high-quality product in the right quantity to support an entire ecosystem is one way of thinking about sustainability and responsibility.
