HEREWEAR
A pilot ecosystem is being set up in Wallonia with HEREWEAR and TCBL
HEREWEAR is a European project which lays the foundations of a new circular, local sector based on bio-sourced residues. To test new value chains allowing textiles and clothing to be reused without reselling them abroad or burning them, HEREWEAR approached the Wallonia region. It will use this partnership to identify and respond to the needs of designers or manufacturers of yarns, fabrics and clothing who want more sustainability in this sector. This cooperation was the common thread of the reflections and testimonies of the day of November 25, the third of 4 TCBL Days.

12 new labs to help women innovate in the textile and clothing sector
For the second phase of the project, shemakes.eu is launching a call for applications for 12 new labs which will be deployed in 11 Member and Associate States of the European Community. If you are a lab, that is to say a research center, a fablab, a co-working space for designers, an incubator or an accelerator, a social or civic innovation space, you have until the end of November to register.
Between January and June 2022, each new lab will implement specific training actions for young girls and women who aspire to innovate in the textile-clothing sector. They will offer specific textile technical courses (such as 3D printing, connected textiles, organic alternatives) but also processes to help women better engage and get involved in their ecosystem (business, local, social or research) .
WINTEX
Fifth project progress meeting in Tunisia
Four days were dedicated to the progress of the project, from November 10 to 13, 2021. The round table on November 10 took stock of the challenges of the Textile-Clothing (T&H) sector and the role of the different stakeholders in this sector, in order to precisely adapt the project to the needs of the sector. The next day, the partners gathered for the Fifth WINTEX project consortium meeting. The project coordinator (UPC) presented the financial and managerial progress aspects of the project. Then, each partner presented the progress of their activities and discussed the next steps. On November 12 and 13, visits were organized, among others, to the ISET of Ksar-Hellal and the ISMM. During these visits, the European partners were able to discover the operating system of Tunisian Higher Education establishments, where the machines acquired as part of the WINTEX project will be installed and discuss their usefulness for the Tunisian textile sector. The next consortium meeting will take place in March 2022.

The Lemahieu factory innovates with an exclusive thread reusing scraps from its workshops
Lemahieu has a new range of thread PUURE®. Developed exclusively with its Spanish partner FERRE, this range is made by recycling knitting scraps from its workshops and thus creates a closed-loop circular economy, a first in the textile industry.
This eco-responsible range is part of the approach that
Lemahieu
has been following for several years: designing and manufacturing the cleanest clothing in the world.
The PUURE®01 yarn, the first in the range, is composed of 33% recycled cotton (from knitting scraps cut in its workshops), 33% organic cotton – to give it long-term support and a beautiful regularity – and 33% Tencel® to give it more softness. Jersey, Pointel and Waffle knits made from PUURE®01 were presented at the show. The PUURE® range should be expanded with always natural and eco-responsible materials such as linen, wool and even nettle.
